Finegold & Shulman Grab Lead!

Shulman

IM Benjamin Finegold and GM Yuri Shulman are the co-leaders at the World Open with three difficult rounds to play. Finegold is playing inspired chess and defeated Jan Ehlvest on Board One, while Shulman defeated Angelo Young.

Seven players are immediately behind the leaders with 5 points. They are: Ilya Smirin, Alexander Onischuk, Alexander Goldin, Alexander Stripunsky, Joel Benjamin, Yehuda Gruenfeld, and Fabian Doettling.

Eighteen players follow with 4.5 points and are still within striking distance.
