1999 ... 1998

After a first round loss, GM Joel Benjamin scored 7 points in 8 rounds, then won the playoff blitz to be named World Open Champion.

IM Kamil Miton was a contender throughout and impressed many people with his play. He finished with 6 points.

Former World Open winner GM Yermolinsky scored six points.

GM John Fedorowicz has won the World Open before and said he felt sharp because of his recent work for an Internet company made him comfortable with his openings.
